8 weeks

today our little pumpkin is 8 weeks old. she's getting so big & mature. well- mature isn't the right word- but she doesn't seem like an infant anymore, she's into babyhood. she sits up with support & yesterday she lifted her head straight up. when you hold her hands she will start to pull herself up & she mainly holds her head straight when she does.
she talks all the time- she loves our 'girl talks' in the morning as i make my coffee & breakfast. she sits in her bouncer & just chats away. last night as she lay in her bassinet i had a white noise machine playing & she was babling away to it. she rolls over onto one side from flat on her back & loves to chomp away at her hands.
she's getting better at the bottle every day- today she only took 2 ounces- but she got it in in under a half hour (barely). she still cries & complains for about 5 minutes before she even contemplates taking the bottle, but we'll get there.
i go back to work in just over 2 weeks. i am both looking forward to it & dreading having to be apart from her that long! i need a practice run where i leave her with her dad for more than just a half hour/hour. i have a gift certificate to a spa & am debating getting my hair done or a massage/spa treatment. the frugal part of me says haircut or color since it will last longer, but the realistic part of me says that i like my haircolor & won't keep up with getting that dyed constantly & the haircut isn't too bad. plus it's been ages since i've had a massage & i could really use & enjoy one. i'm still debating though- which would you choose?

anyway- we're slowly getting a nice little routine down. mornings are still tough as the pumpkin is just like mommy in that we both like to sleep in. (although for me it's just trying to get some of that much needed sleep!) the hub was gone for the last two days so we had to get it together to walk the dogs in the morning- turns out she loves the snu.gli front carrier which is good since she's way to heavy for the sling i have! plus- she loves to see outside & walk around & feel the breeze. she has been having lots of awake/alert time & usually naps the longest later in the afternoon. it means she's up in the evening & doesn't really go to bed until 10:30 at night. that works okay for us since she's still in our room & we can all go up to bed together. i know that the bedtime will adjust as she gets older & eats more consistenly during the day. i have her at a 3 hour schedule now & i am trying to stretch her at night without increasing the daytime feeds too much. since i know that she definitely gets enough food & gains weight & has plenty of wet/dirty diapers, i am pretty confident that she should get to 4+ hours at night. i just hope she gets there in 2 weeks!

You are so smart to start bottles now. While I haven't been through it, I've read so many blogs of ladies who waited until the last minute and then fretted all day at work because of their hungry baby at home.

Wow, 8 weeks already - congrats! Can I suggest the Baby Whisperer book? It's not for everyone but it really worked for me. Chicken was going 7-8 hour stretches by 4weeks and it really helped me.
And can I also ask for more pics! She's just so cute!!
