happiest day ever

little girl giggled today. it was in her sleep this morning & it was the briefest of moments- but a true little tiny giggle. (sure- it could have been a gurgle mixed with a giant grin- but i say giggle dammit!)

and to clarify on my update- i don't plan on co-sleeping with her, her cradle is right next to my bed & she does go down in it pretty well. but i had been falling asleep while feeding her previously & neck falling back while sitting up & holding her on the boppy doesn't seem like the best (or safest) situation for either of us. i wake up after 30-60 minutes, but i feel much safer having her already lying down in the controlled environment next to me in bed. there are no pillows, loose blankets or walls to roll next to. i sleep lightly & she sleeps loudly- a good combo for those times when it's 3 am and your eyes just automatically shut while breastfeeding!
i want her to move to her own room eventually, but right now i can't imagine feeding her for a half hour, changing her, getting her down & then having to get myself to sleep for an hour and a half & have to wake up more to go down the hall. not 3 times a night. i think she's going to at least be in our room for a little while longer- until she gets into more of a doable nighttime schedule- like getting up only once in the middle of the night! i know the dangers of cosleeping- i know the precautions to take & ultimately it is a nightly judgement call. if i am so tired that i think i really will pass out- she goes back in her cradle. if she is happily eating away while i lie down & rest (while still being conscious enough to be fully aware of her) then i am fine with both of us staying put (for a little while at least)

okay- enough on that- today was a big day for another reason: we had our first family restaurant experience! so what if it was a brunch at a nearly empty pe.rkins and the poor hub got the wrong food... she was really good & slept mainly through it. she started to wake up a little at one point & the hub & i switched seats so i could sit next to her & she closed her little eyes & stayed asleep the rest of the time! my breakfast was pretty good- i gotta say that as bad as those places are- there is something about the hash browns that just makes me very happy. i could eat a meal of just those every time!

my folks are coming up tonight to visit for the weekend, so i am pretty sure i won't be posting until they leave. i hope that everyone has a wonderful mother's day- whether celebrating as a mom yourself, or as a daughter, a future mom or want to be a mom. i know how this day can sting if you don't have the title you would like on this day & i truly hope it is a happy (or at least calm & peaceful) day for all.

Isn't it scary when you first venture out with your baby! And as a bottle feeding mom, I think it must be even more intimidating for breastfeeding moms. I was always afraid of her crying and not being able to fix it. Of course now I don't give going places a second though. But those first couple months were nerve-wrecking!

I want to get a co-sleeper crib too, I just don’t know if I should get the crib for co-sleeping – or one of those play pens that have the higher sleeping areas for newborns. (sorry about my lack of proper wording). What do you have?
