just when i think things are finally looking up* we get hit again. tonight we found out that my father-in-law is not doing well at all. he has hepatitis & was on the list for a liver transplant. he has appointments every three months to check his status. at his last one they thought he had beginning stage liver cancer. the good news is he doesn't. the bad news is that his kidneys are failing & for that he has been removed from the transplant list. we don't know anything more than that right now. it's in a way expected as he has been sick for years. but he's also been living with it for years. in a way i have thought that he will be the guy you know you gets a 6 months to live sentence & lives for another 15 years. it makes it even more sad (bittersweet is definitely not the right word- there is no sweet in this) that we can't even tell him that he's going to be a grandpa. we know how much it would mean to him & i just wish that we could at least give him that soon.
* the hub's job is going really well & we are looking for a car for me. it may mean that we have to push any kind of treatment back another month- more like May than April, but at least we are slowly getting back to normal.
one question though- why do i always get a message from my cousin with no message- just pictures of her 5 month old daughter with an out of work boyfriend that we've never met. and why does this message always come on the days that i am feeling just a little hopeless?

haven't you heard "kick um when they are down"
SO sorry for the sad news all around but glad the hubs job seems to be going well!
Many thoughts for your family Jenn! Hopefully everyone makes it through and you are able to deliver him good news and have him around to enjoy it.
(((((HUGS)))))
I'm sorry about your father in law. That totally TOTALLY sucks. There are times when I feel worried that my own father won't be around to meet his grandchildren (he's had cancer twice, has diabetes, high cholesterol, has had a quintuple bypass, 4 of which had to be re-opened less than a year later, high blood pressure, etc.), so I'm sort of kind of with you on that fear.
And as far as why you get pictures from your cousin? Because your cousin is obviously an asshole. And if she's not an asshole, then the universe is just an exceptionally cruel place. Neither option seems good.
But it seems like you are able to focus on SOME of the positives, like the job going well, and the new car prospects. That's all nice, right?
I'm so sorry about your FIL. Hang in there and focus on all those things that are going right in your life. Oh and if only there was a way to block picture messages from your cousin...that sounds so obnoxious.
Oh Jen, I am so sorry. I don't know what else to say.
I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL, I'll keep him and your family in my prayers.
Hey, what job did your hubby get? Did I miss that?
And I'm really sorry about your FIL. How is things going?
Thank you everyone- it is just another thing to get through & it helps knowing we're not alone. we haven't heard any more news from FIL on how he's doing r what his prognosisis. i don't know if they don't know or just aren't sharing.
nancy- the new job is a courier- what he was doing before he opened the shop. it's extremely flexible & has the potential for a good paycheck. But it's not so dependable or steady. There are good weeks & bad weeks. he's looking around to see what is out there & what he wants to do for his 'real' job. At least this pays some bills while he does that.
